It’s Okay


Life can be extremely stressful and can make us feel like all we can do sometimes is lay down and cry. For me, my stress comes from trying to do a million things at once and keeping all my emotions bottled up.  I forget that I am human and that it is okay to feel, whatever emotion that may be. Lately, I have been trying to practice more self care  and to learn that it’s okay. It’s okay to be stressed, it’s okay to feel sad or happy, and it’s okay to just relax. 


I know you’ve probably heard the saying “it’s okay to not be okay” and as cliche as it may sound it couldn’t be more true. There are somedays that I feel like falling apart and instead of paying attention to that feeling, I ignore it. I go about my day and throw my mental health on the back burner. I pile more and more tasks onto my plate which only makes maters worse. I know that there are days where we all have to put on a brave face and go about living like everything is normal, but at the end of those days make sure you are giving some attention to yourself and taking care of yourself both mentally and physically.

I stress more then anything about things that haven’t even happened yet. Crazy right? I have slowly been learning that it’s okay to not have everything figured out. That is all part of the journey. Sure, I have an idea of what I want for my future and what goals I want to accomplish, but that doesn’t mean I have to figure out the whole process in a week. I have to trust in God and know that my future is in His hands. So, if you’re stressing about something that is in the future, ask God to guide your path and to calm your worries.img_7511

Another big cause of my stress is constantly feeling like I have to always be doing something. Recently I have learned that it is okay to have a day to myself that I’m not trying to overload myself with things to do, but instead JUST RELAX! I encourage you to take at least one day out of your week and spend time doing things that you love and that make you feel at peace. Even God took a day of rest when all His hard work was done! Make sure to take care of this body and mind that He has given you, He doesn’t want to see His children filled with stress and worry of the things of this Earth.

With all that being said, as much as we don’t want it, there are going to be bad/stressful days. However, the good news is, we have an amazing father who is willing to listen to our troubles and to help us through them. When you’re feeling stressed pray, I can not begin to explain the relief it gives you. Always remember to take care of yourself both mentally and physically, it may be a tough road but don’t give up. Just remember God’s got you, and you got this!
